Welcome to The Cocoa Yard

The Cocoa Yard is more than a brand, it’s a story rooted in heritage, family, and the rich cocoa traditions of Trinidad and Tobago.

Founded by Joanna Smallman, who grew up in the lush village of Gran Couva, this business is inspired by a childhood surrounded by one of the world’s finest cocoa varieties, Trinitario cacao. Her father worked on the cocoa estates, where the rhythms of farming, harvesting, and community shaped daily life.

The name “The Cocoa Yard” holds deep meaning. It was the place where farmers gathered each morning before heading out into the fields, a space filled with stories, laughter, and shared purpose. That spirit of community and authenticity is at the heart of everything we do.

Today, Joanna brings that legacy to life by sharing premium cocoa products with Trinidad and the wider world. Every product reflects the richness of Gran Couva’s soil, the dedication of its farmers, and a passion for preserving true Caribbean cocoa.

From our family to yours, welcome to The Cocoa Yard.
